PSALM 62 (61)
10 / 10 / 2026 / VIEW ROOM / WROCLOVE
The Psalm
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I shall never be shaken.
How long will you all attack one person, trying to bring them down, as though they were a leaning wall or a tottering fence?
They plot only to bring that person down. They take pleasure in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I shall not be shaken.
My salvation and my glory rest in God. He is my strong rock; God is my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, O people. Pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our refuge.
Human beings are but a breath; they are an illusion. Placed on the scales, they rise; together, they weigh less than a breath.
Do not put your trust in oppression or place vain hopes in stolen riches. Even if wealth increases, do not set your heart on it.
God has spoken, and I have heard this: power belongs to God, and to You, Lord, belongs merciful love. You repay each person according to their deeds.
A Reflection
What struck me most in Psalm 62 (61) was this passage:
“Trust in Him at all times, O people. Pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:8 in most English Bibles; Psalm 62:9 in many Catholic Bibles.)
I couldn’t help but connect these words with He[art]pour, my new exhibition at the View Room.
“Pour out your hearts before Him.”
The word pour out evokes more than pouring liquid. It suggests releasing what is held inside: emotions, sorrow, gratitude, love, fear, and prayer.
This connects beautifully with my exhibition title, He[art]pour.
Pour — to flow or release.
Outpour — to pour forth abundantly.
Outpouring — an abundant release of emotion, love, prayer, or the Spirit.
Inpouring — something flowing inward.
Overflow — to exceed what can be contained.
Pouring heart — a heart giving itself openly.
Pour your heart out — to express your deepest feelings.
Pour forth — to release or give abundantly.
To pour out one’s heart before God is to surrender, to trust, to allow everything held inside to flow freely into His presence. No masks, no holding back, no fear of being too much. Just the heart, as it is, pouring itself out before the One who is our refuge.
And perhaps this is what He[art]pour is about: allowing what lives within the heart to become creation, letting the inner flow find its way into the world.
From the heart, we pour out. Into the heart, we receive. And when there is more love than the heart can contain, it overflows.
He[art]pour.
