This morning, as I traditionally do, I woke up and pulled one of the little Bible quotes from my collection gathered from my church. The quote I pulled was: “Will they never learn, all the evildoers who devour my people as though eating bread, who never call on the Lord?” — Psalm 14:4. I then opened the Bible and asked God to explain this quote to me — to show me what He meant by it and how it relates to my life. What I received was Jeremiah 1:18–19: “I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall… They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will protect you.”
For me, this felt like a very direct reflection of what I am being called to do. The first quote speaks about those who “never call on the Lord,” and I immediately connected this with the Heart Art Movement. This is exactly what I feel called to do: to call on God and invite Him into our lives — into our hearts, our creativity, our relationships and our everyday lives. The Heart Art Movement is not about me being the source; it is about opening the heart to God and allowing love to move through the heart, through art and into the world.
Then Jeremiah gave me another part of the message. God does not say that nobody will fight against me. He says, “They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you.” I read this as a reminder that there may be resistance, but I am not meant to be afraid of it. I am meant to stand firm, not because I am strong on my own, but because I am calling on God.
I feel there are many people who need this message — people who have forgotten to call on God, who have become disconnected from their hearts and from love. And perhaps this is exactly what the Heart Art Movement is calling us back to:
Call on God. Open your heart. Let love move through you. Stand firm.
This morning, I asked God to explain the little quote I pulled, and the answer I received was simple:
Call on Me. And I am with you.
